This blog is designed for teachers and students in higher education, providing concise and easy-to-follow guides on various digital tools that may be useful in your teaching or studies. Each guide typically includes a 2-5 minute video accompanied by supporting text. We recommend starting with the video and using the text as a reference when trying the tools yourself.
The blog is created by Dan Wirdefalk and Åsa Kronkvist, ICT educators at Kristianstad University. Since most teaching at Kristianstad University is conducted in Swedish, the material is primarily created in Swedish.
The content is published in a format that supports automatic translation, allowing you to access it in your preferred language.
How to enable automatic translation
Texts
To temporarily translate the entire website, you can use Google Translate:
- Choose to translate a website.
- Select your preferred language.
- Paste the web address and click on the arrow.
Most browsers also have a built-in translation feature. You can enable it in the browser’s settings so that the website is always translated.
Videos
All videos are subtitled in Swedish. You can use YouTube’s built-in feature to auto-translate the subtitles into your preferred language:
- Start any video so that YouTube’s settings become available.
- Ensure that subtitles are activated and choose auto-translation for the language.
A guide (in Swedish!) on how to enable auto-translation on YouTube is available in the video Översätt textad film på YouTube.
Limitations of automatic translation
Automatic translation is never flawless. Especially when it comes to words and phrases for functions you need to click on, you must be attentive. The button might say something completely different from what the automatic translation shows. Text that appears in images and is shown in video examples will not be translated.
